THE LABEL ART
The pattern featured on the 2023 Darius II label is based on a remarkable study of one of Isfahan’s 18th-century architectural complexes. Commissioned by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London in 1877 to document the extraordinary tiled decoration of one of Iran’s most influential artistic periods, Safavid Persia, the original large-scale artwork reveals the remarkable craftsmanship and precision of its makers. Rich in color and detail, these geometric spandrel designs reflect the enduring beauty that emerges when mathematical precision and artistic vision come together. Much like winemaking, they remind us that true craft is often born from a balance of science, patience, and imagination.
Tasting Notes
Layered aromas of concentrated blueberry, black plum, and wild blackberry introduce 2023 Darius II.
Further lifted by violet and dried mountain herbs, with sage and graphite adding nuance and dimension. The palate is expansive and fruit-driven, revealing a generous arc of dark and red fruit with intensity, precision, and remarkable depth. A seamless, polished midpalate is framed by integrated acidity from our mountaintop vineyards, bringing lift and definition.
