Matthew Sharp’s journey to Darioush is rooted in both experience and affinity. A seasoned executive with more than two decades in fine wine, Matthew has led with vision, building partnerships, and elevating estates across the globe. Before joining Darioush as President in 2025, he served as Managing Director of Shafer Vineyards, guiding the iconic Napa Valley estate through a successful transition in ownership. His earlier career spanned more than 20 years representing world-class wines, including Lafite Rothschild, where he honed his expertise in national sales and brand development, and earned a reputation for championing wines of character and distinction.
Matthew’s relationship with Darioush began long before his appointment. During the earliest vintages of our wines, he worked as a sommelier at La Cachette in Los Angeles, where he was captivated by the distinctive style of wine being made by a fellow Angeleno in the grocery business, Darioush Khaledi. That early impression—combined with his respect for the Khaledis enduring commitment to family ownership in an increasingly corporate business, and their generosity within the community—drew him to back to the winery decades later.
Matthew resides in Marin County with his wife of 24 years, Tove, and is the proud father of two college-age children. He is honored to carry the Khaledi family’s vision forward, stewarding the next chapter of Darioush with a continued dedication to quality, hospitality, and community.
