Sensory Sessions: An Olive Oil Experience

The love and lore of olive oil dates back thousands of years. The Ancients traded it along the Silk Road, kings were crowned by it, and like wine, for centuries life was illuminated by olive oil.

Like wine, olive oil’s quality and taste are influenced by geographic factors, timing of the harvest, types of varieties/cultivars, and the good care of growers and producers.

Darioush has worked closely with several olive orchards in the Capay Valley, a remarkable stretch of fertile land in Yolo County, to produce fresh, expressive and aromatic olive oils. As with the grapes we grow and vines we tend, our olive farmers are committed to respect and care for the land.

Join our in-house Olive Oil Expert, Orietta Gianjorio for a lively sensory evaluation -- compare and contrast several styles of extra virgin olive oil, learn how to evaluate for quality and flavor, and pair with food and wine. This experience will include a tasting of several single-vineyard and small lot Signature wines, paired with small bites.
