Art Exhibit: Mehri Yazdani

by Mehri YazdaniDarioush is proud to showcase the thirty-three works of accomplished painter Mehri Yazdani. The exhibition, consisting of both small and large format paintings on canvas, will be on display in the Tank Room at Darioush from April 16th through June 16th, 2005.

Mehri Yazdani has exhibited her paintings internationally for the past several years. Her work has been presented in Greece, Germany, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, California, Washington, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ms. Yazdani has achieved numerous awards on the East Coast including The Pennsylvania Governor's Award for outstanding accomplishment in the Fine Arts and the William Emlon Cresson Traveling Scholarship to Europe, 1986.

by Mehri YazdaniBorn in Tehran, Iran, Ms. Yazdani has lived in the United States for the last thirty-three years. She has a degree in English Literature from Tehran University. Her post graduate studies included Persian Literature and Middle Eastern Languages from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her fine Arts degree is from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia.

Mehri Yazdani's painting evolved from her love for the art of ancient Persia, Greece, and Egypt. Her semi-abstract images give new form to ancient motifs, creating a unique style which captures the spirit of these early civilizations. Her vibrant colors in acrylic and oil, the texture of her canvases with their irregular surfaces reminiscent of the peeling paint of old frescoes, and the straightforward simplicity of her shapes all convey the strength and expressiveness of Classical art.

She now lives in Sacramento. There is a permanent public display of six paintings in the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection at the Library on the campus of California State University, Sacramento.

Lot 6: "The Ultimate LSD Experience"
A morning behind the wheel of a formula race car, a luxury vineyard picnic, a magic carpet ride through ancient Persia, and a selection of Napa Valley Cabernet in big bottles is all part of this one-of-a-kind LSD (Lewis Cellars, Shafer Vineyards, and Darioush) experience.

These three Napa Valley vintner members have teamed up to give four couples a trip that starts with a day at the races. Accompanied by vintner and former Indy car driver, Randy Lewis, our bidders will suit up and burn rubber on the track at the ESPN- Russell Racing School at Infineon Raceway (formerly Sears Point). Later they’ll cool your engines at a luxury vineyard picnic in Shafer’s Red Shoulder Ranch in Carneros. The day will finish with a dazzling feast for the senses at Darioush winery with exotic Persian entertainments and a dinner created by chef Richard Reddington. Host and companions throughout the day will be Randy and Debbie Lewis, John and Barbara Shafer, and Darioush and Shahpar Khaledi.

Our guests will also enjoy two-night luxury accommodations at Auberge Du Soleil, Napa Valley’s Premier Resort.

Each couple will also receive a 3-liter bottle of 2003 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Lewis Cellars, 2001 Hillside Select from Shafer, and Signature 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon from Darioush.
