Ruba'iyat of Omar Khayyam

Beloved both in Persian culture and the world-over, the Rubaiyat is a collection of poems from the 11th century Persian poet, mathematician, and philosopher, Omar Khayyam. Credited with over 1,000 poems -or quatrains- Khayyam's work is an exploration of deeply human concepts: love, life and death, nature, beauty, and faith.

Since the first its first English-language translation by Edward Fitzgerald in 1859, the Rubaiyat has been an inspiration to many writers, filmmakers, and creative minds of the western world, with its melancholy tone and juxtaposition of the brevity and celebration of pleasure that is life.
