2013 Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon

Our limited series Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon is the fortuitous result of experimental winemaking endeavors throughout the varied topography of Napa Valley’s southernmost growing region, Mount Veeder. Evidenced in our dedication to farming our Sage estate perched at 1800 feet, Mount Veeder is an AVA we deeply admire. The most temperate of the Napa Valley hillside appellations, it’s cool marine-influence lent by the nearby San Pablo Bay, moderate sun exposure, ancient soil composition and high elevation all combine to support gradual ripening and flavor development in the Bordeaux varieties destined for Darioush Signature Cabernet Sauvignon and Darius II.

Tasting notes

This singular Cabernet Sauvignon is exclusively grown in the Mount Veeder AVA.

Rich and decadently fruited, 2013 Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon is steeped in flavors of juicy blackberry and raspberry with crushed black cherries and savory, fresh earth. The palate is luscious and full-bodied with notions of licorice, menthol, and spicy oak outlining a rich core that exhibits tangy dark berry fruits, baker’s chocolate, and smoked meats. A long, spice-laden finish reveals intriguing hints of bay leaf, cedar, cinnamon, and cigar box.
