WA#187 (Feb 2010)
"The elegant 2007 Chardonnay reveals finesse allied to noteworthy flavor authority. Poached pear, white corn, orange rind, honeyed citrus blossom, and a touch of green apple-like characteristics are all present in this medium to full-bodied Chardonnay with a long, pure finish. It should provide pleasure over the next 3-4 years" - Robert Parker

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine - May 2010
"An exceptional wine. Worth a special search of the market."
"This big, fully ripened, highly extracted offering runs true to the winery's preference for very rich wines, but for all of its size and flamboyant oak, it strikes an uncommonly fine sense of balance and stays in control from beginning to end. Its involving flavors of ripe apples, caramel, toast and cream are as bright and alive as they are deep and impressively stuffed, and its exceptionally long finish exhibits a spark of unexpected brightness that is the mark of a wine that is destined to hold up brilliantly for a good many years." Rated 95 | $43

"Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine."
"Light Red and powerhouse White. Fowl, veal and light meats."

2006 Merlot Receives 93 Rating and Highest Praise

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine - March 2010
"A highly distinctive wine. Likely to be memorable"
"Taking its accustomed placement at the forefront of wines whose concern for richness is paramount, the new Darioush Merlot is an immense, highly extracted offering whose extravagant oak is comfortably married to equally extravagant ripe-cherry fruit. It is absolutely brimming with a stunning array of both sweet and savory spices, and, while quite full in body, it surprises by staying in balance even as grippy tannins take hold at the finish. While so rich and seductive as to justify drinking now with the likes of well-seasoned lamb, it is far from reaching its best and should be held for five or more years." Rated 93 | $48.
"Limited Production."
"Medium red, balanced, good depth, medium tannin, beef and lamb"

2007 Darius II Cabernet Sauvignon | Rating: 94
02/01/2010
WA #187, February 2010
“The 2007 Darius II Cabernet Sauvignon is more tightly kit and restrained aromatically, but what is there is impressive. A dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by aromas of graphite, spring flowers, black currants, and sweet black cherries. The wine hits the palate with tremendous opulence, richness, and intensity. The complexity does not yet equal the 2006, but there is more to it. The texture is richer, the finish is longer, and the seamlessness of the wine’s overall personality is flawless. This beauty should hit its peak in 3-4 years, and last for 20-25.”
