"Rarely restrained and never timid, the wines of Darioush are typically unstinting in richness, and this one shows the indelible family stamp. It is very deep and absolutely brimming with juicy, black cherry fruit, and is broadly sweetened with caramelly oak. And, while it is a touch hot and undeniably ripe, it never threatens to be too much of a good thing. It is, in fact, pretty well-balanced for the weighty, comparatively plush wine that it is. It is not built with an eye to twenty years in the cellar, but its structure ensures a half decade of positive growth at the least."

2011 Signature Viognier | Rated 93

"It has seemed to us that the best Viogniers, whether from here or elsewhere, are wines of succulence, size and generous fruit. This deep, very well-endowed working more than supports the argument, and its ample infusion of oak adds a distinctive bit of richness all its own. Full and firm and nicely balanced for the big wine that it is, it ends with a flourish of citrus, stones and sweet spice, and its solidity suggests that it will grow for a few years and hold for a good many more."

Decanter Recommends 2009 Darioush Signature Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

"An almost floral element to the nose.  Broad, lush, opulent, full-bodied, with black fruits and hefty tannins that give a chocolatey tone..."

"This full-throttle effort keys on ripeness and oak, and it has no sense of what brakes might be for, but it does manage to find its varietal way in spite of its sweetness and heat. Redolent of blackberries as much as of currants...but its richness more than makes up for its sins. Mid-term keeping seems the best course here, and it will surely tickle fans of the style when teamed up with well-seasoned oxtails and braised shanks of lamb."  CGCW_GOLD_STAR.GIF Rated 90
